Tia-Clair Toomey Burns Nearly 1,500 Calories Per Day During Her Training Sessions

The reigning five-time Fittest Woman on Earth®, Tia-Clair Toomey, will attempt to become the all-time winningest Individual CrossFit Games athlete at the 2022 NOBULL CrossFit Games on Aug. 3-7, 2022, in Madison, WI. After winning the 2022 Torian Pro following her 2022 Quarterfinal win, Toomey’s training for her potentially record-breaking Games is underway.

On June 21, 2022, Toomey took to her Instagram page to share some behind-the-scenes action of her training and revealed that she burns nearly 1,500 calories across her multiple daily training sessions. Check it out below:

Morning Tracking

Toomey’s training session started outdoors at a track with her husband and coach, Shane Orr. Toomey trains on the outdoor track on a bi-weekly schedule: twice a week and then once per week. The session consisted of running 7,000 meters (4.4 miles) over a 50-minute period. According to her wearable fitness tracker, Toomey burned 528 calories in that time.

Fellow CrossFit Games competitor and Toomey’s training partner at PRVN Fitness, Brooke Wells also performed the running session, burning a total of 514 calories. Training outside is part of their preparation for the Games as there are often outdoor events at the Games, both on land and in water. Adjusting to the heat and balancing water consumption is essential to ensure they hit their target training goals on days outside the gym.

By the time Toomey reaches the gym in the afternoon for a weightlifting session, she consumed approximately 1,300 calories between two meals. Nearly half of those calories were burned at the track. Toomey shared that she is currently part of a study that assesses her calorie needs and state of recovery throughout the 2022 CrossFit season. Afternoon Lifts

At the gym, Toomey performed weight lifting and a metcon. She was seen performing snatches. overhead presses, pegboard work, and what appeared to be barbell thrusters. During that time, she burned just under 1,000 calories to bring her total to about 1,500 burned.

Between her training sessions, fulfilling her sponsorship commitments, managing her social media, and building her brand and business, Toomey touts the importance of eating well, getting requisite sleep, and setting aside time for proper recovery measures such as meditation. Thus far in the 2022 CrossFit season, it seems like Toomey is destined to repeat her dominant performance on CrossFit’s grandest stage. If she shows up in Madison with the same energy she brought to the Torian Pro, it will be a challenge for anyone to keep her from the top of the podium.
